Tillamook County takes it to the next level with a countywide tsunami evacuation drill. In the event of an earthquake, the shaking is a tsunami warning. If you are in a tsunami zone, evacuate and walk to the assembly area. If you are not in a tsunami zone, lie down, cover yourself and wait. An earthquake can damage or destroy buildings. Plan ahead to be safe. Be prepared, not afraid. Have you heard the saying “practice makes perfect”. Well, that's what this training is all about. The more you practice your evacuation plans, the better prepared you will be when a major disaster strikes (or even any type of emergency).
