MANILA, Philippines – A 3.9-magnitude earthquake was felt by residents of Kabucan town in Leyte on Wednesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to Phivolcs, the tremor occurred at 10:28 pm and was located west of Kabucan in Leyte. Its origin was tectonic and its depth was nine kilometers shallow.

The earthquake's magnitude had previously risen to 4.2, while its depth reached 10 kilometers.

The state's earthquake expert indicated that no damage or aftershocks were expected.
