LAHORE: The United Nations INSARAG 2024 Earthquake Response Exercise (APERE) concluded in Lahore after the successful start of the 2024 International Rescue Challenge.

About 274 international delegates from 23 countries and partner humanitarian organizations participated in the conference.

Provincial Emergency Services Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique officially bid farewell to the delegates in Pakistan. He said that the Pakistani rescue team is accredited by the United Nations International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), which is why Pakistan assumed the chairmanship of the Asia-Pacific region this year and because of this exercise was hosted here in Pakistan.

Emphasizing the importance of global cooperation, he said: “By working together, we have strengthened our capabilities and improved international cooperation. It was an honor for Pakistan to host this global event, and I am confident that we have learned from each other's experiences to better serve humanity.”

Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Services Ziaullah Shah thanked participants at the closing ceremony of Exercise INSARAG Asia-Pacific Earthquake Response 2024.

UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Mohammed Yahya via video link expressed his gratitude to the participants.

Winston Chang, Global Leader of the UN-INSARAG Team from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, expressed his admiration for the progress made by the Pakistani rescue team. 274 delegates along with Pakistan Rescue Team members and rescue officials attended the closing ceremony of APERE 2024.
