Today's Earthquake: A magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck Rohtak, Haryana, on November 12, 2024 at 07:50 AM, at a depth of 7 km, located at latitude 28.75 north and longitude 76.78 east.

A magnitude 3.4 earthquake occurred on November 3 in Gujarat's Kutch district early in the day, the Institute of Earthquake Research (ISR) said.

Officials said no injuries or property losses were reported in the area due to seismic activity.

The tremor was recorded at 3.58 am, and its epicenter was located 53 kilometers northeast of Lakhpat, according to the Gandhinagar-based institute.

Earlier on October 27, Amreli district in the state's Saurashtra region recorded a 3.7 magnitude tremor, according to ISR data.

The state has suffered nine major earthquakes in the past 200 years, according to information provided by the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA).

She added that the Kutch earthquake in 2001 was the third largest and second most destructive earthquake in India during the past two centuries.

On January 26, 2001, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Gujarat with its epicenter near Bhachao in Kutch, affecting the entire state. The earthquake killed nearly 13,800 people and injured 1.67 lakh others, according to GSDMA data.

The epicenter of the quake, which occurred around 9.20 am, was in Khunti district, about 35 km from the state capital Ranchi, Chief Meteorologist Upendra Shrivastava told PTI.
