A small earthquake hit San Pedro Sunday morning, with people feeling the tremor in areas like Long Beach and Carson, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported that a 2.2 magnitude earthquake occurred just before 8 a.m. near Terminal Island.

Anything below 2.5 magnitude is generally considered a small earthquake and is not usually felt.

But several people in Long Beach and the South Bay area, which includes Carson, Lomita and Torrance, reported feeling a weak tremor, according to the USGS.
