Earlier this year, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake was reported in eastern Ohio.

CHESAPEAKE, Ohio — People living in southern Ohio, near the Wayne National Forest, may have felt a small earthquake Monday afternoon.

The earthquake was recorded near the state border with West Virginia and Kentucky. The quake had a magnitude of 3.3 and occurred around 4:40 p.m., according to the USGS. This level of volume is considered weak.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Lawrence County, northwest of Chesapeake.

Community members reported minor to mild tremors that could be felt in areas near the Ohio-West Virginia-Kentucky border.
