The UK has fallen in the worst recession on record due to the coronavirus blockade, with more than 20% hired between April and June 2020. It is the worst of the world’s major economies. The recession – which is set in a six-month exit row – is the first since the 2008 financial crisis. Chancellor Rishi Suna said the figures confirmed that hard times are here and that many people were expected to lose their jobs.
