Today, Saturday, the UAE recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.2, according to the stations of the National Seismic Network of the National Center of Meteorology.

The earthquake struck the Falaj Al Mualla area in Umm Al Quwain at 5.51 pm local time, at a depth of 4 kilometers.

According to the National Center of Meteorology, the earthquake was not felt in the area and no impact or damage was reported.

On September 22, the UAE recorded a 1.2-magnitude earthquake in the Al-Rahib area in Dibba, Fujairah. According to the National Center of Meteorology, the earthquake was felt “slightly” but had no impact on the area.

A 2.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Masafi area of ​​Fujairah on September 1.

Before that, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake was also recorded near the coast of Dibba on August 18.

Although the UAE is not located in a major earthquake zone, it experiences minor tremors from time to time due to its proximity to the Zagros Mountain Range, one of the most seismically active regions in the world.

An earthquake expert at the National Center of Meteorology in the United Arab Emirates explained that the Zagros Mountain Range, which extends across Iran and Iraq, often records seismic activity, and sometimes produces strong earthquakes.
