Officials: Louisiana residents felt an earthquake in East Texas

MOORINGSPORT, La. – An earthquake that struck Louisiana early Monday morning was felt in East Texas, reports show.

According to US Geological Survey data, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake was reported six kilometers southeast of Mooringsport, Louisiana. The earthquake occurred shortly after midnight. Officials say it was five kilometers deep.

Data show that the quake was felt by residents of Kilgore, Deberry, Carnac, Marshall and Waskom. Tremors in East Texas ranged from weak to mild, according to the US Geological Survey.
