A 4.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Afghanistan

Badakhshan [Afghanistan]January 11 (ANI): A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on Saturday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.

The center indicated that the earthquake occurred in northern Afghanistan at 05:05 am Indian time. Details were also shared on X.

According to the National Center for Seismology, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

It was recorded at latitude 37.33 north and longitude 74.62 east.

Northern Afghanistan is a mountainous region vulnerable to natural disasters.

In a report by Tolo News, it was noted that the earthquakes affected many provinces and citizens across Afghanistan.

According to a report issued by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, Afghanistan is ranked among the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world. Afghanistan ranks fourth in risk of crises and 24th in vulnerability and preparedness, according to the Notre Dame Global Adaptation Index.
