The detainees have come out of a famous detention center in Belarus giving horrific details about the attacks and assaults that have been highly debated in Sunday’s election. Reporting on police brutality, Amnesty International said it had expressed “widespread torture”. As EU foreign ministers prepared to face new sanctions, he has promised to release 6,700 detainees in Belarus. Belarus is watching the sixth day of protests since the presidential vote. Alexander Lukashenko was named the winner by the election authorities, but supporters of the main opposition figure, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, insisted he had won.
