An earthquake of 3.8 filling was felt in parts of southern Fairmont on Monday morning.

The earthquake arose off the coast of York, Maine, at 10:22 am, according to the American Geological Survey.

Springfield residents and Bratburu participated in community social media groups that they felt a shake for 10-15 seconds. The size of 3.8 is relatively moderate, and Vermont has the emergency administration that it had not received any reports of damage and the state transmission centers did not see any increase in emergency calls.

Although the earthquake occurred at two states, the rock that most of the northeast sits in particular leads to carrying seismic waves for long distances, according to Louvon, a professor of Earth Sciences at Midelbury College.

While earthquakes are not common in the state, the Ministry of Environmental Preservation indicates that between 2016 and 2020, there were 15 moderate earthquakes with the mile center in Vermont – although the population reported their feeling of the effects of those in other states and Canada.
