The rare kuskokwim slip
Residents of the upper Kuskokwim River community in McGrate and DowNRIVER as KALSKAAG was excluded late on January 29 when the 5.2 earthquake shook 5.2 region.
No significant damage was reported from January 30.
According to the Alaska Center for the earthquake, one of the residents of Takotina, a small community just 9 miles from the earthquake center, described the earthquake as 50 seconds of the shake that I felt “in my walls”.
About 150 miles southwest, the Shankla Adkins, resident of Anak, said that she also felt the effect of the wave.
“It happened around 7:40 [p.m.]I was watching TV, and surprised me. I felt that a boat was passing. It was not a tremor. It was like the waves wandering around this house, no harm. “It was just surprising waves,” said Adkins.
Adkins, a resident of Anak for life, said she could not remember any earthquake in her hometown. She said that the January 29 earthquake was not like those who suffered from them in Marsa.
“I think I was shocking and I didn't know what to do. I mean, if I was in anchor, I know what to do, but here is strange for me,” said Adkins.
Elizabeth Nadine, Director of Communications at the Alaska earthquake center, said that the earthquake was about 5 miles deep and focused directly on a section of the rift line called the IDitarod-Nixon error, which has not seen a major earthquake activity for nearly a century.
Nadine said: “What I understand is that this section of error has not been torn since 1935. This was the last documented earthquake in this particular part of the error.”
The 1935 earthquake was 6.2. Earthquakes are measured on a scale called the Richter scale, where each entire number represents ten times an increase in the extent of the movements of the earth.
In 1904, scientists believe that the 7.3-sized earthquake is 10 times the 1935 earthquake that shakes the northeastern end of the same IDADOD-Nixon error, which is a weak spot in the Earth's crust that has several hundreds of miles that run Qatari from Aniak Even and through McGrath.
The last earthquake in the area was an earthquake of 5.4 in 1989 concentrated southern McGrath.
In April 2024, it shook the 4.1 earthquake to the southern community of Yukon River, from Holly Kroos, residents of the Coskukim River.
The January 29 earthquake was followed by several hours of nearby wireless tremors, recording 3.5 and 3.2.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
