An earthquake that shakes Ankara, causing panic among the population

According to the AFAD Disaster Management Authority (AFAD), a 3.5 tremor was recorded, with its center in the Yenimahalle region in Ankara. The earthquake was determined as it occurred at a depth of 11.48 km (7.13 miles).

After the tremor, some residents left their buildings in a state of panic as they felt shaking. While there were no immediate reports of severe damage, shaking caused anxiety among the locals, many of whom gathered outside their homes for safety.

Although capital is safer compared to other regions of the country in terms of high seismic activity, it has a fair share of low tremors throughout the year.

The seismic activity in Türkiye is mainly focused on the length of many rift areas, including the North Anatolia error, which extends from the Aegean Sea in the West to the eastern part of the country.
