The research team analyzed earthquake data, along with the records of solar activity and surface temperatures on the ground using sports and calculations.

The team discovered that when the Earth's surface temperatures included its model, the prediction became more accurate, especially for shallow earthquakes.

“This is logical, because heat and water often affects the upper layers of the Earth's crust,” said Saldanha, a candidate for computer science at the University of Tsukuba.

The results indicate that the transmission of solar heat to the surface of the Earth affects seismic activity, regardless of this, and that combining the forecasts of solar activity into detailed Earth's temperature models may help in issuing earthquake predictions.
