Junta continues to drop the bombs after the Myanmar earthquake, where the opposition places the arms

The National Unity Government in Myanmar (NG), which coordinates the popular struggle against the ruling army, has announced a partial endowment to facilitate earthquake's relief efforts.

This announcement comes despite the reports that the ruling Junta continued to strike at the wake of the natural disaster on Friday, which left more than 1,600 people, with the expectation of the death toll expected.

American geologists said that Temblor was 7.7, which was the largest that struck Myanmar more than a century ago.

NUG said its armed wing, the Popular Defense Force, will carry out a two -week stop in the offensive military operations that start on Sunday in the areas affected by the earthquake.

She said that she will “cooperate with United Nations and non -governmental organizations to ensure security and transportation and the establishment of temporary rescue and rescue camps”, in the areas they control.

The statement called on the country's ethnic groups, which work to cooperate with their armies.

Continuous military attacks: reports

The United Nations Special Rapporteur in Myanmar, Tom Andrews, condemned the continuous attacks of the military government on the resistance -controlled areas.

Andrews said that at least three air strikes were carried out in the Sajan area – near the epicenter of the earthquake, and a rebellious disability.

He said that the strikes were the exacerbation of the crisis caused by the earthquake.

“This is completely heavy and unacceptable,” he told the BBC.

“The amazing damage that will be created, first of all, just a transformation from people who have to deal with this military operation, and the transformation of relief operations – but it is clear that if you have dropped the bombs from the sky while trying to save people, this is not less than incredible.”

Jolly Bishop, the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary -General in Myanmar, called on both sides to put their arms to allow help to reach those affected by the earthquake.

“This natural catastrophe will significantly lead to a state of severe situation already for the people of Myanmar,” the former Australian government minister told the Australian newspaper on Saturday.

“The situation has now become more urgent and disastrous and I call on all parties to struggle to stop all violence now so that we can focus our attention, resources and our effort to help these people in urgent need.”

There is a precedent for major disasters to play a role in helping peace to restore to the conflict -torn areas, most notably in the province of Ats, Indonesia, after it was destroyed by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

However, there is a few precedents for this in Myanmar, where military governments maintained repression even in the wake of destructive hurricanes.

Acute height

The ruling army in Myanmar said on Saturday on government television that the death toll from the earthquake had risen to 1644, as more bodies were withdrawn from the ruins of dozens of buildings that collapsed when they were hit near the second largest city in the country.

The new total is a sharp rise compared to the total of 1002, which was announced just hours ago, confirming the difficulty of confirming the losses on a large -scale area and the possibility that the numbers will continue to grow from the earthquake on Friday.

The number of injured people increased to 3408, while the missing number increased to 139.

Most of the losses were in Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar and has a population of more than a million people and the city closest to the earthquake center.

The United Nations Office for Humanitarian Coordination said, warning that the damage to the roads hinders access to hospitals in central and northwest Myanmar is struggling to overcome the flow of the injured.

One of the residents on the phone said that the rescue operations in Mandalay were unable to match the scale of the disaster.

“Many people are trapped, but there is no upcoming help, just because there is no power, equipment or vehicles,” he said.

The survivors there dug with their naked hands on Friday in desperate attempts to save those who are still trapped, and lack heavy machines and the absence of powers.

Although the teams and equipment have been transported from other countries, they are hindered by airports in those cities that have been affected and seem to be not suitable for aircraft.

The civil war in Myanmar makes the movement throughout the country difficult and dangerous, making relief efforts and destroying fears that the death toll still can rise.

The predictive modeling of the geological service of geological service (USGS) estimated that the number of deaths may exceed 10,000 people in Myanmar and that losses may be greater than the value of GDP in the country.

Blood in high demand

In the middle of the day on Friday, the earthquake with a treatment center is not far from Mandalay, followed by many wireless tremors, including 6.4.

The buildings were sent in many areas that fall on the ground, the roads that bind, causing bridges to collapse and exploded.

In the capital Naybyidaw, sets on Saturday worked to repair damaged roads, while electricity, phone and Internet services remained in most of the city.

The earthquake dropped many buildings, including multiple units that include government civil service employees, but this section of the city was banned by the authorities on Saturday.

The Myanmar government said that the blood was high in demand in the most affected areas. In a country where previous governments were sometimes slow to accept external aid, Main Ong Hinging said Myanmar is ready to accept external assistance.

The Military in Myanmar seized power from the elected government in Aung San Suu Ki in February 2021, and is now involved in a civil war with firm militias and its forms of newly formed democracy.

Amid despair there were some good news stories.

Rescuers were alive from the wreckage of a residential building collapsed in Mandalay on Saturday, 30 hours after the earthquake.

The applause rang while Phyu Lay khaing, 30, from Sky Villa Condinium by rescuers and carefully removed from the rubble with a stretch.

Her husband Yi Aung, who was anxiously waiting for the news, embraced her as the mobile was raised.

“Initially, I didn't think she would be alive,” Yi Aung told AFP as he was waiting for his wife to get out of the debris.

“I am very happy because I heard good news,” said the trader, who has two-year-old sons with his wife-William, Ethan, said.

While the ambulance was away to the hospital, Yi Aung was seen through the window holding his wife's hand.

The Red Cross official told AFP that more than 90 people could be surrounded under the residues of the apartment block.

Bangkok collapse collapse

In the neighboring Thailand, the earthquake shook the Greater Bangkok region, the home of about 17 million people, and other parts of the country.

The Bangkok city authorities said that the number of confirmed dead is now 10 years, and nine at the site of high -end collapses near the famous Chateoshak market in the capital, while 78 people were still missing.

The rescue efforts were continuing to find additional survivors.

On Saturday, more heavy equipment was brought to move tons of rubble, but hope was fading between friends and family members in the missing people who will be found alive.

“I was praying to survive, but when I got here and saw the ruin-where could they be? At what angle? Are they still alive? I still pray because the six are alive,” said Naromol Thongle, 45-year-old.

Bangkok worker ran to his life

While Pornsak Exingsing ran his life from a tall building in Bangkok, he could hear terrifying screams on his back.

The Thai authorities said that the earthquake and subsequent tremors felt in most of the country's provinces. Many places in the north have reported damage to residential buildings, hospitals and temples, including in Xiang May, but the only losses were reported in Bangkok

Earthquakes are rare in Bangkok, but are relatively common in Myanmar. The country is on the mistake of the epic, which is a major mistake in the north and south that separates the Indian painting and the Sunda plate.

Brian Babti, the earthquake in British geological survey, said that the earthquake caused an intense floor in an area where most of the population lives in buildings designed from wood and brick construction.

“When you have a large earthquake in an area where there are more than a million people, many of whom live in weak buildings, the consequences can often be catastrophic,” he said in a statement.

Airport tower down

Planet Labs PBC satellite has shown by AP that the earthquake overthrew the air traffic control tower at NayPyitaw International Airport as if Shorne was from its base.

The photos showed on Saturday that the debris is scattered from the top of the tower, which took control of all air traffic in the Myanmar capital, the pictures showed on Saturday.

International relief efforts

Australia provides two million dollars for rescue efforts through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

“The support of Australia will help the ICRC to implement immediate support to save life, including meeting emergency medical needs,” Benny Wong -Wong said in a statement.

“Australia does not provide any direct funding for the military regime and takes pre -emptive steps to ensure that our help does not add to the military regime in Myanmar.”

China said it has sent more than 135 rescue personnel and experts as well as supplies such as medical groups and generators, and pledged about $ 13.8 million as emergency aid.

The Ministry of Emergency Cases in Russia said it flew in 120 rescuers and supplies, and the country's Ministry of Health said that Moscow had sent a medical team to Myanmar.

China and Russia are the largest arms suppliers of the Myanmar Army.

Other countries such as India and South Korea are the assistance, and the United Nations allocating $ 5 million to start relief efforts.

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Washington would help.
