Myanmar earthquake: The buildings continue to collapse after days of the deadly earthquake

The buildings in Myanmar continue to collapse five days after hitting a strong earthquake for the country, creating risky conditions for rescue men while trying to rid the survivors of the rubble.

More than 2,700 people were killed in an earthquake of 7.7 people, where thousands were injured, according to the Military Council in Myanmar. Hundreds of others are still missing, which means that the death toll is almost certain.

On Wednesday, the Myanmar Fire Services Department shared a video of the intimate moment in the Naybyidaw military capital, where the workers withdrew a man from the rubble after more than 100 hours of the earthquake, which is a miracle rescue that presented a rare moment of hope.

The man looked tired and hair when he was pulled from the air pocket between the broken panels of concrete, to a round of applause.

One day before, a 62 -year -old woman was withdrawn from the broken concrete panels in Naibidao.

Elsewhere, a team of Chinese rescuers on Monday withdrew four people-including a five-year-old child and a pregnant woman-from the rubble.

The country's weak buildings are still collapsing with the continuing tremors, according to human rights organizations, and highlight the risks of the rescue mission.

Volleys collapsed near the earthquake center in Mandalay on Monday night, after people returned to the structures that followed the earthquake.

“With these additional tremors, deaths are still occurring,” said Michael Danford, Myanmar director of the United Nations World Food Program.

“Many people are still sleeping in the streets or in the gardens because they are very afraid to return to their homes. Of course, this impedes our efforts to reach them and provide the type of support they need.”

Humanitarian organizations continue to emphasize urgent help, especially for remote areas in the country.

Even before the earthquake, four years of civil war left millions without a suitable shelter and the health and communications infrastructure.

In Sagaing Town, near the earthquake center, the population described scenes from the sorrow of the milking and despair waiting for urgent medical supplies and food.

Amnesty International Rights Group spoke with three residents, who said that there is an increasing need for body bags, torches, and mosquitoes. They also told the group that the army, which is largely controlled in the city, was imposing a “strict monitoring” of light vehicles traveling to the move from Mandalay.

On Tuesday, Amnesty International urged the Myanmar army to “refrain from deliberate air strikes and other forms of attack on civil targets” in the areas affected by the earthquake.

Meanwhile, a major rebel alliance in Myanmar announced the temporary ceasefire to facilitate rescue efforts.

“We strongly want to implement urgent humanitarian efforts, which are immediately needed for the affected population of the earthquake, as soon as possible and effective.”

International teams, including groups from China, Russia and Pakistan, were helping to rescue efforts in Myanmar. Two Indian marine ships carrying humanitarian aid and relief and food supplies arrived in Yangon on Tuesday morning.

But human workers have warned that years of lack of financing means that more work is needed.

“This is the right time, to be honest, for the world to ascend and support the people of Myanmar,” said the United Nations humanitarian coordinator of Myanmar Marcoloji Corsi on Tuesday.

“We still say that Myanmar does not occupy the high highlands between different emergencies … The humanitarian response in Myanmar has been chronicly funded for years. After four months of the year, less than 5 percent of $ 1.1 billion was received from the humanitarian response plan.”

The devastating earthquake felt on Friday along the neighboring Thailand, where at least 22 people died in the capital, Bangkok.

Officials said that of this number, 15 people were killed after a tall building collapsed under construction.
