An average Mag 5 earthquake occurred in southern Greece on August 17, 2020.

An earthquake measuring 5 degrees on the Richter scale occurred relatively deep (92 kilometers) this morning in the Aegean Sea between Attica and Melos Island at 10:27 local time. The epicenter was located 119 km south of the capital Athens or 55 km southeast of the popular holiday island, Hydra. Many people in Attica, eastern Peloponnese, southern Saronic Gulf, and Milos Island have reported feeling a slight tremor. Due to the depth of the earthquake and its distance from the coasts, the earthquake is not likely to cause damage.
