Goarn marks 25 years of promoting global health readiness and answer in an emergency

AND Global warning and answer network (Goaran)The initiative coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO) marks its 25th anniversary today. Since its inception in April 2000, the net has been at the helm of the global fight against emergency. Using global partners expertise-rating warnings, arranging rapid capacities and strengthening capacity-significantly improved surgery at the country level and strengthened regional development, playing critical role in preparation and response in health care.

“Goarn is a vital part of global health architecture,” said Dr. Tedros Adhan Ghebreyesus, who is the general director. “Through the network, countries receive the professional support they need to respond to emergency health and to improve their own willingness for willingness and answer. This means faster, more effectively answers and saved more lives.”

Goarn was created in response to a need for better coordination during global health emergency cases. While many partnership organizations sent teams to help during emergencies, there was a lack of coordination that interfered with the overall effectiveness of these answers. It was also clear that no institution could solve all the components of the answer. Goarn was born after an international meeting that organized WHO in Geneva, from 26 to 28 April 2000, about 121 representatives from 67 partner institutions discussed the growing challenge of diseases prone to epidemic and emergence, and an emergency need to build a global network on the basis of existing partnerships to resolve these threats.

In October 2000, Goarn played a key role in responding to Ebola's main epidemic in Gulu, Uganda-noting a significant turning point in what would develop in a quarter of a century of central global health responses.

“As one of the first respondents, deployed during Ebola outflow in Uganda 25 years ago, I was firsthand witnessed the evolution of our efforts to answer and Goarno's role,” said Dr. Mike Ryan, Executive Director of WHO's health situation and deputy director of WHO. “When I returned to Uganda earlier this year because of another Ebola response, I was immensely proud to see that they had become strong national capacities, led by the Ministry of Health with the support of the WHORN partner. Goorn is an example of how multilateralism works on the salvation of life. I still carry Orange Goar today.

Goarn uses the expertise of his partner institutions to resolve global health challenges. Acting as a unique international community, the network responded quickly and effectively to public health threats, arranging technical experts to ensure that the right expertise is in the right place at the right time. Goorn aims to strengthen the capacities of the countries and help build strong, resistant systems for an emergency response.

Goarn ensures that the experts are well dressed and equipped with the right skills before they are arranged where they are most needed, stimulating a novenue cooperation for fast, coordinated and impressive answers.

Goarn has now grown into a network of over 310 institutions, including national agencies for public health, non -governmental organizations, un -Anslagers, academic and other technical organizations. Goarn responded to over 175 emergency cases of public health in 114 countries, arranging more than 3645 international answers integrating into national responses, cooperating with thousands of national professionals to strengthen and improve local efforts. The network has solved major global public health events, including the SARS epidemic, the disease of the Ebola virus, the disease of the Marburg, Covid-19, MPOX, Cholera, yellow fever, disaster such as floods and earthquakes and war. Goarn arranged expertise in epidemiology, disease supervision, cases management, clinical care, prevention and control of infection, communication with the risk and engagement of the community and others. These efforts also provided practical training by hundreds of national teams, enhancing their immediate response capacity and long -term resistance.

“Looking back in the last 25 years, it is extraordinary to see Goarn has evolved from a visionary concept to the necessary network in the global landscape in emergencies,” said Ray R. Arthur, Doctor of Science, Director, Global Center for Disease Detection, CDC (retired) and former Chairman of the Gorna Management Board. “As an early participant in establishing a network and as a former president of the Board of Directors, I testified first -hand dedication and cooperation that led to the success of the network. Goarn did not only facilitate the rapid response to emergency public health, but was also crucial in strengthening global health, ensuring that the role in public roles continued in Vis.

Today Goarn is a vital pillar in Emergency health corps Providing a well -coordinated health workforce, focused on countries and related regional and global. The 25-year turning point indicates a significant evolution of Goarn's role in willingness and response. Instead of implementing a large number of international professionals in every field, Goarn now only brings the necessary expertise to resolve critical disadvantages on the field. Pailed with a focus on capacity strengthening and starting training, Goarn has shown the effectiveness of their mandate and effort that strengthens the countries to manage emergency.

Goarn invites all Member States, partners and global community to continue working together to build global architecture for emergency cases that is resistant, just and capable of resolving future health challenges.
