17 required to collapse the fatal Bangkok tower – DW – 05/16/2025

A court in Thailand issued arrest orders on the back of 17 people regarding the deadly collapse of the Bangkok skyscraper.

The 30 -storey tower, which was under construction and aims to accommodate the government auditing office, was reduced to ruins in seconds when an earthquake of 7.7 people, Thailand and the neighboring Myanmar on March 28.

The authorities say they have regained 89 bodies from the ruins of the collapsed tower. Seven people are still missing.

The tower was the only building in Bangkok that collapsed. Suddenly and rapidly raised the collapse of questions about the quality of its construction.

The deputy chief of Bangkok Police, General Sokuan Boeingb, said that the charges include violations of the construction rules that led to the death and carry the maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the building's collapse and its results have not been issued yet.

Who was accused?

The police said that the defendants are among the executives and engineers from seven companies involved in the design of the collapsed tower, construction and supervision of the construction of the collapsed tower.

Among the 17 individuals requested by the police, not only one person was identified: Premchai Karnasuta, the former Italian Thai Development President, the largest construction company in Thailand.

The Thai Italian Development held meetings with investors and stated that the company is cooperating with the investigation.

Premchai was convicted and sentenced to more than three years in prison for overfishing in 2021.

Rangers was arrested at the Al -Ghab camp site in a wildlife protected with bodies of protected animals, including the black Indonesian cheetah.
