Achletel, North Carolina (828NEWSNOW) – a series of simple earthquakes has rocked the Lake Tokawi region in the western state of North Carolina over the past two weeks, according to the American geological survey.

The latest reflux occurred at 1:03 pm on Wednesday, 24 September, when an earthquake hit 2.1 water 6.3 miles west of Roseman. The officials said that the small earthquake was likely not noticed by most of the population.

The 2.2 earthquake struck the Fox Ridge area near Lake Tokawi on Wednesday, September 17, prompting some reports on moderate shaking. Since May 30, at least dozens of earthquakes have been recorded five miles from Tokawi Lake, with sizes ranging from 1.7 to 2.4. Experts note that earthquakes less than 3.0 are generally weak and rarely cause damage.
