Three minor earthquakes shook areas near northern Thailand, but no damage was reported

The Earthquake Monitoring Division of the Thai Meteorological Department reported that three earthquakes occurred in Myanmar, near northern Thailand, within just a few hours on October 11, 2025. The depth of all events was 10 km.

Timeline of the three earthquakes:

First earthquake: 00:03 – magnitude 2.4, located about 177 km northwest of Fang District, Chiang Mai. Second earthquake: 02:35 – magnitude 2.1, about 128 km northwest of Fang District, Chiang Mai. Third earthquake (strongest): 03:28 – Magnitude 3.5, about 199 km northwest of Fang District, Chiang Mai.

Although the three quakes were relatively minor, with the strongest measuring 3.5 magnitude, the quake was felt by most people near the epicenter. The probability of serious damage to buildings in Thailand is considered low.

However, three consecutive earthquakes occurring near the Thai border, especially along a high-energy fault line, should be closely monitored. Fang district and its surroundings in Chiang Mai, being the closest to the epicenters, deserve special attention.
