A week after a massive earthquake, another 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Philippines

This comes more than a week after a massive earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale struck the Mindanao region.

The German Research Center for Geosciences (GZF) said that a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the island of Mindanao in the Philippines on Friday.

This earthquake is the latest in a series of earthquakes that recently struck the Southeast Asian country. This comes more than a week after a massive earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale occurred in the Mindanao region.

Several school buildings and a hospital were damaged in the earthquake, and power supplies were cut off. The strong tremors also triggered a tsunami warning, which was later lifted, and led to the evacuation of nearby coastal areas.

The 7.5-magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 62 kilometers (38.53 miles), according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

Schools were evacuated in Davao City, which has a population of about 5.4 million people and is the largest city close to the epicenter. The authorities had warned of a “devastating tsunami” and the rising waves were “life-threatening” and asked people to evacuate immediately to safer places after the October 10 earthquake.
