MANILA – A 6.1-magnitude earthquake shook the southern Philippines on October 17, a week after two powerful earthquakes struck the country, the US Geological Survey said.

Regional rescuer Ralph Cadalena told AFP that there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

“We felt a sudden strong tremor, but it was for a very short time,” Cadalena said.

The US Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred near the municipality of Daba in Surigao del Norte province at a depth of about 69 kilometers.
