6.0 magnitude earthquake hits General Luna, Surigao del Norte —Phivolcs

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said a 6.0 magnitude earthquake shook General Luna, Surigao del Norte Friday Morning.

In earthquake information, PHIVOLCS said the earthquake occurred 13 kilometers from the town of General Luna at 7:03 a.m.

PHIVOLCS said damage and aftershocks are expected following the quake.

The quake was initially reported as magnitude 6.2 before PHIVOLCS downgraded its magnitude to 6.0.

The quake was tectonic in origin and had an epicenter 28 kilometers deep, according to PHIVOLCS.
