PBBM Revisits Earthquake-Shit Areas in Cebu, Follows Government Relief Efforts – Office of Presidential Communications

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. returned to Cebu on Friday to assess the condition of families and communities affected by the devastating 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the province on September 30.

The follow-up visit builds on the visit of President Marcos on October 2, where he reaffirmed his administration's firm commitment to the well-being and recovery of the affected population.

The President visited Bayanihan Village in Barangay Poblacion, Municipality of San Remigio, where the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) set up modular shelter units in a short time to provide more comfortable temporary homes for families displaced by the earthquake.

The President inspected the ongoing repairs at the hospital by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The president moved to a tent city set up in Bogo City, another area badly affected by the devastating earthquake.

The President emphasized that the evacuees were provided with basic services, including electricity, water, mobile toilets, mobile shower stations, and a mobile kitchen.

President Marcos immediately mobilized key government agencies for a whole-of-government disaster response following the 6.9 magnitude earthquake, epicentered near Bogo City off the coast of Cebu Province.

During his visit on October 2, the President ordered the release of more than Php200 million in aid from the Office of the President for local government units in Cebu devastated by the earthquake.

This includes Php50 million for the Cebu Provincial Government: Php20 million each for the City of Bogo, Sogod, and San Remigio, and Php10 million for the municipalities of Bantay, Laman Bantay, Madridigos, Medejos, Santa Fe, Tabogon, and Tabilan.

President Marcos also ordered the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to release the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) to the Cebu provincial government and affected local government units. | National Democratic Party
