4.9 A strong earthquake hits Argentina and is said to have been felt in Chile

A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck Argentina on Tuesday northeast of Aconcagua, data from the US Geological Survey (USGS) showed.

The quake shook parts of the Andes in both Argentina and nearby Chile, striking about 60 miles east-northeast of Los Andes in Chile, at a depth of 75 miles, according to a USGS map.

There were no immediate reports of damage, injuries or deaths. No tsunami warning was issued.
