The Belarusian leader has accused the opposition of carrying out a coup – BBC News
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has accused the opposition of trying to stage a coup because of widespread anger over the disputed elections. Opposition leaders called for a transfer of power, saying: “We definitely consider it as an attempt to seize power.” The opposition will compete for the official results of the August 9 poll, with Mr Lukashenko casting 80% of the vote. He has seen street protests and strikes in the country for 10 days. Protesters denounce the massive rumor of the vote and the winner was opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who officially secured only about 10% of the vote. There were no independent election observers. #BBCOS #BBCOutsideSource Please subscribe HERE .
