The story

A large aftershock has struck eastern Afghanistan, just days after an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck the region.

More than 1,400 people were killed and 3,000 others injured, according to the Taliban government.

The area is difficult to reach because it is mountainous, and rescuers are searching for people trapped under mud and stone houses in the area. Entire villages have been destroyed.
