6.0 magnitude earthquake strikes near Anchorage, Alaska; I felt close to Forex

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck west of Susitna, Alaska, on Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred at 8:11:26 a.m. Alaska time (11:11:26 a.m. Pacific time).

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the quake was about 14 kilometers west of Susitna, at a depth of about 80.4 kilometers below the surface.

Susitna is located just west of Anchorage.

According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, the Alaska earthquake triggered a sensor in Forks, which registered a magnitude of 3.4 million. PNSN later clarified that there had been no earthquake in Forks, but the sensor had been alerted by seismic waveforms.

The depth and size make a devastating tsunami highly unlikely, and to date no tsunami advisories or advisories have been issued in the Pacific Northwest.
