Bangladesh is a dynamic land where coal appears and disappears, rivers change, and the coastline grows and erodes over the course of a human lifetime. The Earth is similarly dynamic, but on a much longer time scale. Our planet's solid outer shell is divided into a number of rigid tectonic plates that slowly collide, separate, or slide over each other. Most earthquakes occur at the boundaries between plates. The largest earthquakes occur when two plates move toward each other. These boundaries do not move smoothly; They stumble, build up pressures over hundreds to thousands of years, and then suddenly release that stored motion in a major earthquake. The collision of the Indian plate with Asia led to the formation of the Himalayas and Tibet, and also generated the 2015 Nepal earthquake and the 1950 Assam earthquake. On the eastern side of the Indian plate, the Indian Ocean dips beneath Southeast Asia. The 2004 Sumatra earthquake and tsunami occurred along this border, tearing up a 1,200-kilometre-long area. Another major earthquake struck 500 kilometers from the Arakan coast of Myanmar to Chittagong in 1762.

These plate boundaries continue north into Bangladesh, but the main fault, the megathrust, is buried beneath the sediments of the Ganges-Brahmaputra delta. The Sylhet and Tripura Hills and Chittagong Hills (CHT) are the result of large supra-thrust delta deposits being folded and faulted. The Great Thrust is a very broad, flat interface between the Indian and Burmese plates. It is completely buried by kilometers of sediment and cannot be seen on the surface.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
