Several tariffs were expected to impact people in British Columbia, so Premier David Eby unveiled a three-point plan to respond to them.

He unveiled the plan on February 1, which was the third most-read story of the month.

People living on Vancouver Island are no strangers to earthquakes, but when one struck midday on February 21, people were quick to want to know more.

The quake occurred 24 kilometers northeast of Sechelt at 1:26 p.m., and many on the island reported feeling it to CHEK News.

In the end, there were no reports of damage from the earthquake.

The most-read story of February came from a story that gained attention across the county, of a mother advocating for her terminally ill daughter.

The family made headlines after sharing that nine-year-old Charlie Bullock is no longer receiving blood transfusions to help manage the symptoms of Batten disease.

The province had previously funded life-sustaining treatment, but announced it would stop at the end of February.

Update: The family has been advocating for funding for the drug for several months, first getting a short reprieve when the province committed to funding the drug while it conducted a review to see if Charlie would benefit from continued treatment.

At the end of the review, the decision was made to terminate treatments because the evidence did not support continuation of blood transfusions.

After a public outcry, British Columbia's Minister of Health decided to overrule the committee that recommended ending treatment, and ordered that funding for blood transfusions continue for as long as Charlie's medical team saw fit.

February brought an end to a years-long saga, as voters approved a borrowing plan to replace the aging Crystal Ball complex.

A referendum was held on the plan to borrow up to $168.9 million to build a new complex.

Of those who voted, 58.71 percent voted in favor of the borrowing plan.
