In an attack in Minneapolis, a US immigration officer shot and killed a woman in a car, angering the city's residents and politicians. Federal agents deployed by the Trump administration shot and killed the woman while driving her vehicle on the street. The shooting was captured on video as the driver of the dark red vehicle attempted to exit the vehicle and slowly walk away from the officers who were trying to open the door. In a statement on social media, President Trump defended the ICE officers, saying he had seen the video clip of the incident, which he called “a horrible thing to watch.” He described the woman who was shot and killed in her car as “extremely disorderly, obstructive and resistant” and that she “violently, willfully and viciously resisted the ICE officer, appearing to have fired in self-defense.” The US Department of Homeland Security described the driver as a “domestic terrorist” who “armed his vehicle” and attempted to “kill our law enforcement officers.” It said: “An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow enforcement officers, and the safety of the public, fired defensively. He used his training and saved his life and the lives of his fellow officers.” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey held a press conference in which he told ICE immigration officers to leave the city.
