An earthquake has been reported on the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona

The earthquake occurred in the area south of Kayenta and east of Tuba City in northern Arizona.

CHINLE, Ariz. — A 3.7 magnitude earthquake was reported Friday morning on the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona.

The quake was reported at about 11:30 a.m. in the area near Chilchinbeto, according to the USGS. The depth of the quake was estimated at about 5.7 miles.

The Navajo Police Department sent out an earthquake alert and reported no known serious injuries.

The event was reported in the area south of Kayenta and east of Toba City. Residents who felt the earthquake can report their experience to the USGS here.

According to the USGS, a strong earthquake typically has a magnitude of 6.3, while a moderate earthquake has a magnitude of 5.3.
