The mother of a student who took her own life after being told she could not graduate says the University of Glasgow “failed” after a report highlighted serious concerns. According to a study by the Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency, the university’s processes posed a “systemic risk to academic standards”. His review came after the death of Ethan Brown, who should have been awarded a 2:1 but was wrongly told he had failed his course. His mother, Tracy Scott, said her son had been “stolen” of his degree, and that changes needed to be made to “green” current and future students.
