Israel says it has agreed to reopen its main border crossing with Egypt in the Gaza Strip following the completion of an operation to recover the body of the last remaining Israeli hostage in the territory. The Rafah crossing was supposed to reopen in the first phase of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that began in October. However, the Israeli government has conditioned Hamas to return the body of the last hostage, Sergeant Major Ran Gvili. On Sunday, the Israeli army said it had begun a new search for his remains, saying the operation was taking place in a cemetery in Gaza City and could last several days.
