PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) – Emergency crews responded to a fire at 17 School Street in Presque Isle. At 1:56 p.m., the Presque Isle Fire Department responded to a call from a neighbor reporting smoke coming from the home. Upon the crew’s arrival, they found heavy smoke. Officials say no injuries were reported because the two passengers were already outside when they arrived. It took about three hours to extinguish the fire. School Street and Park Street, near the Parsons Street side, remained closed during the incident, Caribou Fire assisted at the scene, and Easton Fire covered the Presque Isle station during the response. The Red Cross is helping those affected. The home was a total loss, and the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
