A 5.5 magnitude earthquake hits Myanmar News.az

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Wednesday morning.

The earthquake monitoring department reported that the quake occurred at a depth of one kilometer at 10:15 a.m., News.Az reported, citing foreign media.

The epicenter of the earthquake was at latitude 24.369 degrees north and longitude 97.633 degrees east, about 494 kilometers northwest of Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai.

According to the Thai Meteorological Department, no earthquakes were recorded in the country.

The department also recorded several other seismic events in neighboring countries earlier in the day.

At 4:17 a.m., a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Vietnam at a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter at 14.966 degrees north latitude and 107.707 degrees east longitude.

At 4:48 a.m., another 3.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in Vietnam at 15.011 degrees north latitude and 107.68 degrees east longitude, also at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Later in the morning, at 10:18 a.m., a 4.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded north of the Sumatra Islands in Indonesia. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, and its epicenter was at latitude 4.514 degrees north and longitude 94.7 degrees east.
