Area 51 hit by 17 earthquakes in one day as Trump promises to release new files on UFOs: ‘Worth a discussion’

Area 51 has seen at least 17 earthquakes in one day this week, and bewildered experts admit the behavior is highly “unusual.”

The secret Nevada Air Force Base, long associated with reports of UFOs, has been hit by relatively shallow earthquakes, sparking conspiracy theories about nuclear testing.

The group of quakes ranged in magnitude from 2.5 to 4.4 and struck near the base, which is about 80 miles from Las Vegas, according to US Geological Survey (USGS) data.

The first quake, the strongest, occurred 2.5 miles underground just after 3 p.m. Wednesday local time, and was followed by more than a dozen smaller tremors.

Geophysicist Stefan Burns claimed the activity was in an “unusual place for an earthquake”, and highlighted how shallow the activity was in a video on X.

He added that the unusual characteristics make it “worth discussing in the context of whether this was a secret underground nuclear test.”

This news comes as President Trump indicated that the Pentagon is preparing to release the “interesting” UFO files uncovered by the administration.

“We’re going to launch a lot of things that we haven’t done,” the president said Wednesday at a White House event surrounded by NASA astronauts.

“I think some of it will be very interesting to people,” he added.

Last month, Trump also spoke about releasing UFO information while speaking to supporters at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix.

“The first versions will start very soon,” he said. “So you can go out and see if this phenomenon is true. And you will find out.”
