The second earthquake in as many weeks was recorded on Monday, May 4, about 1.2 miles west of the village of Carlton, in Monroe County. It was recorded as having a mild intensity and was registered as a 2.7 magnitude earthquake.

The US Geological Survey reported that a 2.7 magnitude earthquake centered about 1.2 miles west of the Village of Carlton shook homes and rattled windows at 5:32 p.m. on Monday, May 4.

This is the second earthquake recorded in the region within two weeks.

Another earthquake, with a magnitude of 2.9, was reported at 10:32 a.m. on April 26, according to the USGS. Its center was about 4.3 miles southeast of Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada, placing it near the mouth of the Detroit River where it meets Lake Erie. This earthquake was felt in Ontario as well as in parts of southeastern Michigan, including Detroit, Downriver and Monroe County.
