It’s 2020 and of course everything seems to fall apart again. California is basically burning, along with other states in the United States, and two hurricanes are heading towards the American coast at the same time. At the very least, it’s troubling.

So if you want to track this madness first-hand, we have some perfect resources for 2020. Below you’ll find resources for tracking fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, and live tsunamis as they happen.

Live Fire Maps

First, here are two fire maps that you will find useful. This first displays, courtesy of Google Maps Crisis, public alerts, and information on California wildfires, and current fires across the country with permission from Inciweb. Just be sure to select “Inciweb,” “General Alerts,” and “California Wildfire” below “Layers” to get it all. This map updates as changes occur.

Live hurricane maps

Of course, we all know fires aren’t the only problem that 2020 sends us right now. How about a live map of hurricanes as two potential hurricanes are heading towards the US coast at the same time? Here is one from Windy.com. You may need to tweak the map a little to see current storms.

Then Google Crisis Maps returned with one, too.

Track earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes

But let’s face it. This is the year 2020, so we shouldn’t be limited to hurricanes and fires. What about earthquakes and tsunamis?

Here’s a great earthquake map here from USGS.gov. There is another here. US Tsunami Warning System has a map to always let you know current warnings of tsunami and current earthquakes here.

Here’s a fun map from NOAA showing tsunamis, earthquakes, and even volcano events.

Google Maps Crisis notes that they have an active earthquake map here, which we include below. But I’ll be honest – I don’t know how updated it is, so I’ll be reviewing the linked maps to find out. Currently showing no activity.

You should also see warnings about earthquakes in Google Map below, including weather warnings and other hazards as well. Earthquake warnings will be indicated by a zig zag seismometer graphic.

Unfortunately, most of these maps are embodable, but clicking on them can help you track earthquakes, tsunamis, and even volcanoes in real time.
