A strong earthquake was felt in most parts of southern Italy shortly after midnight on June 2.

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) recorded a 6.2-magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in the sea off the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria, near Belmont Calabro, in the province of Cosenza. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 250 km.

The tremor was strongly felt along the Tyrrhenian coast, but no damage has been reported so far. The earthquake was also felt by residents of Naples and the Vesuvius region, as well as in several parts of Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia and Sicily.
