Two people have been shot dead in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki amid protests against US plans to contain Ebola at a nearby military base, the BBC reports. The circumstances of their deaths are unclear, and officials have not commented on the matter. A police spokesman told the Reuters news agency that he was not aware of any casualties. On Monday, hundreds of protesters marched through the town’s streets after plans by the US to set up an Ebola treatment facility in Kenya raised concerns about the dangers of cross-border infection. The isolation center will be staffed by US doctors and aims to treat US citizens affected by the current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
