47,000 are still missing from the two earthquakes in Venezuela

At least 1,430 people were killed during the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela, with estimates of the number of missing people ranging between 47,000 and 69,000, according to estimates by the United Nations and the Venezuelan government, respectively.

Jorge Rodriguez shared the latest casualty estimates on Saturday, adding that another 3,200 people were injured and 3,100 people were displaced due to the disaster.

In addition, Venezuelan opposition group Venezuela Reporta said more than 47,000 people were still missing, while 5,600 people believed to be missing had been found.

Rodriguez said 33 people had been rescued so far this weekend, including many children, while tens of thousands remained missing, with the time drawing closer to finding additional survivors.

Pope Leo on Sunday expressed his solidarity with the people in Venezuela who are suffering from the devastating impact of the double earthquake that struck the country earlier this week.

“I would like to express my closeness to the Venezuelan sisters and brothers affected by the recent earthquakes that caused many casualties and injuries,” the pope said in Spanish before worshipers gathered for Sunday’s Angelus in Rome.

Before becoming pope, Leo spent decades as a missionary and bishop in Peru, a Spanish-speaking country. He is planning a major tour of southern Latin America in November that is expected to include Peru, Argentina and Uruguay.

The Pope also expressed his gratitude to rescuers and everyone who helped Venezuelans in the aftermath of the disaster.

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said in a post on the X website that the European Union has mobilized 5 million euros ($5.9 million) in emergency aid for affected communities in Venezuela.

Callas said that she spoke with interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez to express Europe’s solidarity with the Venezuelan people.

“We have activated the European Civil Protection Mechanism, with several member states quickly deploying search and rescue teams, firefighters and medical workers,” Callas said.

Callas added that the European Union’s Copernicus satellite system helps map the damage and provides direct assistance to areas most in need.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
