MLB and MLBPA donate $1 million to the Red Cross for Venezuela earthquake relief

Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) today announced a joint financial donation of $1 million to the Red Cross to help people affected by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela. Following two consecutive strong earthquakes that devastated communities in Caracas, La Guaira and surrounding areas on June 24, 2026, this contribution will help the Red Cross provide emergency assistance such as shelter, health care, mental health services, access to safe water, and distribution of essential relief items.

Given Major League Baseball’s long relationship with Venezuela, MLB and the MLBPA have joined together to provide immediate assistance. Venezuela won the 2026 World Baseball Classic, and 60 major leaguers on the Opening Day roster were born in the country. This total donation of $1 million will provide a framework through which the Red Cross and its international partner societies can directly deploy essential resources to support overstretched relief networks.
