The death toll from the double earthquake in Venezuela has risen to 3,685 people

The President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, announced today, Tuesday, that the death toll from the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to 3,685 people, while 16,740 people were injured and thousands are still displaced.

In an official update shared on US social media platform X, Rodriguez said 86,794 families received assistance in the wake of the disaster.

He added that 6,462 people were rescued, while 856 buildings were damaged and 190 buildings collapsed.

Rodriguez added that the authorities distributed 9,603 metric tons of food and more than 8.32 million liters of water, while 25,970 patients received medical treatment.

The official said that 29,567 individuals and 28,362 volunteers were deployed for relief efforts, supported by 4,388 international rescue workers.

A total of 87 temporary camps for displaced residents have been established, while authorities have recorded 1,076 aftershocks since the initial quakes.

According to the US Geological Survey, two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck the South American country on June 24, just 39 seconds apart.

The earthquakes caused widespread destruction, prompting a large-scale national and international humanitarian response.
