Updated ulcer imaging and reporting forms for Buruli are now available

Accurate, standardized data recording and reporting is essential for disease control activities. Supervision is the continuous collection, collection and analysis of data and the timely dissemination of information to decision makers for the activities to be undertaken. The introduction of new templates will also help to collect high-quality data on ulcers on Buruli to monitor progress towards the objectives of the new WHO Roadmap for Neglected Tropical Diseases 2021-2030.

First published in 2000, forms BU 01 (clinical) and BU 02 (register) were used by all countries where Buruli ulcer is endemic to report standardized data to the WHO. In 2012, following progress involving the use of antibiotics, the forms were revised and BU 03 (laboratory form) was added.

The forms have been revised again after further progress and lessons learned over the last 8 years. For the first time, a Buruli ulcer scoring form was included to sharpen the accuracy of the clinical diagnosis.

Major changes to the new forms include:

  • for BU 01, a change in the recommended treatment regimen, the introduction of clarithromycin instead of streptomycin, and the harmonization of some clinical variables with other cutaneous NTDs;
  • for BU 02, the inclusion of variables used to calculate the clinical outcome, together with variables on laboratory outcomes and completion of treatment; and
  • for BU 03, the inclusion of fluorescence thin layer chromatography to detect mycolactone as one of the interim recommended diagnostic tests for the confirmation of Buruli ‘s ulcer.

On August 27 and 28, 2020, the WHO will organize a virtual workshop where updated paper and electronic forms will be presented to national control programs, laboratory staff, and health facilities to ensure a common understanding in filling out the forms.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
