The UK government has changed the advice on wearing masks in English schools – BBC News

The UK government has recently revised its advice on covered faces in schools in England. In areas where coronary virus transmission is high, masks will be mandatory for high school students and staff if there is no social distance. Elsewhere, managers will have the discretion to implement their policy. Ministers dismissed mandatory face-to-face coverage, saying scientific advice made schools safe, but Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said the new guidelines are based on the latest guidelines from the World Health Organization. Primary schools have no effect. Scotland and Northern Ireland have already said that secondary school students should wear masks in common areas, and the Welsh government is looking at guidance.
