Zagreb, 27 August 2020 – The government on Thursday sent the bill for the post-earthquake reconstruction of Zagreb and its environs to Parliament for its second reading, and the document included social criteria for participation in financing the reconstruction of buildings damaged in March. 22 earthquakes.

This means that property owners whose income last year did not exceed 4000 SEK per family member and who did not have assets valued at more than 200,000 SEK on the day of the earthquake will be exempt from covering 20% ​​of the costs of rebuilding their damaged homes.

The full cost of reconstruction will be covered for all disabled war veterans of the homeland war and recipients of welfare benefits.

The government has adopted a conclusion on the temporary residence of people whose homes were damaged in the earthquake and are currently residing in the Cvjetno Naselje student residence.

There are currently 275 people in the apartment block and the Ministry of Urban Planning, Building and State Assets has been mandated to collaborate with the City of Zagreb to find suitable housing for these people, according to the State Secretary at the Ministry of Construction, Dunga Magas. .

Funds to cover these costs will be secured from the European Union Solidarity Fund and new temporary housing must be found by September 15th.
