A 2011 video of the devastating tsunami in Japan is falsely filmed as floods in China
A post on social media is being posted claiming to be a video of the recent devastation caused by floodwaters in China. In the post, it claims that God has punished China for spreading the deadly “ COVID-19 ”-like virus to the world. Let’s verify the claim featured in the post.
An archived version of the post can be seen here.
Claim: Video of flood water flowing into a city in China.
Fact: The posted video shows a tsunami waves escalating to Ishinomaki, Japan, during 2011. This video was filmed by an employee of Ishinomaki gas Corporation Limited while he was staying on the roof of his company. Hence the claim in the post is incorrect.
On backward searching for screenshots in the video, we found similar images in a video that a user called “William Castronuovo” posted on YouTube. In the video description, it is mentioned as having photographed the tsunami waves that escalated to the city of Ichinomaki in Japan. When we searched for official sources with these keywords we found the same video in Youtube channel ‘FNN311’. “FNN311” is the official YouTube channel of “FUJI” Japan News Network. This channel is specially designed to publish videos related to the 2011 “Great East Japan Earthquake”. It was mentioned in the video that due to the strong earthquake off the northeast coast of Japan on “March 11, 2011”, large tsunami waves rose in Ishinomaki city in Miyagi area, Japan. This video is also reported to be filmed by the employer of Ishinomaki Gas Corporation Limited as a large tsunami suddenly burst into the city. He filmed this video from the rooftop of his company, which is located near the Ishinomaki fishing port.
When we searched more for other reliable sources on Google, we found the same visual elements in a video posted by the Ukraine-based “1 + 1 TV” channel on YouTube. It is mentioned in the video that the visuals are related to the tsunami waves in Japan. Similar images of tsunami damage can be viewed here.
The same video was wrongly shared earlier as the video representing floods in Kerala, and more recently as the devastation caused by the collapse of a hydroelectric dam in Laos. A powerful earthquake struck Japan on March 11, 2011, and was followed by a tsunami that killed thousands of people. More details about this disaster can be read here.
To sum it up, the 2011 video of the devastating tsunami in Japan is falsely portrayed as floods in China.

Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
